Woodcarvings |
| We buy our woodcarvings in Akamba in Mombassa. This is a cooperation where about 800 woodcarvers carve the wood with very primitive tools. Their work is sold in the Akamba shop. When something is sold a message is written on a very big board and the carver can pick up his share. |

| Soapstone |
| Soapstone or Kisiistone is found in the Kisiidistrict. It is a very soft type of stone which is easy to work with. We buy the soapstone products in Kisumu. Kisumu lies in the west of Kenya on Lake Victoria. Our supplier George has a stall in Kisumu. We have been buying soapstone from him for the past 15 years and from his profits he can send his children to school. |
